Spirals of Time
~ Mandala ~
Sonnet 4

Secret wrought Mandala, spiral of three
Maze made of myth, softly woven of words
Drawn with a branch of the blest hazel tree
Elegant, wise, ever circling birds

Bird, and then bird, in a pattern they start
Spinning, swimming in the spiral they build
Each with a piece of the next in her heart
The pattern of the promise is fulfilled

Dreams at the center, they circle the earth
Where the seasons are reflected in mirror
Cradling the dark moon back to her birth
The spinning of the spiral brings it clear

Paint it in ebony, lilac and rose
This Mandala of mystery; juxtapose
